Farm 17 is a partnership between Canadore College and Green Communities Costa Rica, united by a shared commitment to sustainability and community empowerment.
Together, they are building a vibrant future for people and planet alike.
Nestled in the cloud forest mountains of Costa Rica's Los Santos region, Farm 17 borders the Savegre River, part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve that carries this rich ecosystem down to the Pacific Ocean. It is a haven of biodiversity, home to thousands of plant and animal species, where forest, farm, and river meet.
Farm 17 is more than a place: it is an experience. Students from around the world come here to immerse themselves in nature, learning firsthand about regenerative agriculture, conservation, and the delicate balance of ecosystems. Here, they unplug, connect, and grow.
That same ethic shapes the ground students stand on. The living classroom at Farm 17 is built from mass timber, roofed with recycled plastic, and powered by solar energy, with compostable toilets in place of conventional plumbing. It is sustainability made visible, a building that teaches simply by being what it is.
Farm 17 is part of a community of farmers committed to sustainable, regenerative growing practices, producing coffee that carries the story of this land in every bean: a story of resilience, care, and the future being built one harvest at a time.
People, Planet, Coffee: Welcome to Farm 17
